The mobile APR12 industrial racking integrates the range of racking offered by Armes; the use of systems for moving the racks guarantees the highest possible storage density since, as only one access corridor is required, almost all the available space is utilised. Sliding of the mobile bases supporting the racking creates the space necessary to access the aisle in which the required load unit or product is located. This type of racking is also suitable for the creation of large structures and, together with the drive-in pallet racking, is the ideal solution for equipping cold rooms. Particularly sophisticated remote control and security mechanisms are available which can also provide completely computerised control of all operations. APR12 stands for "Armes Pallet Rack" with 12 folds (the upright features 12 roll forming folds). Within the APR12 range, Armes has developed various types of racking for light, medium and heavy loads. They all have the same upright design, with different dimensions and thicknesses in order to offer the most appropriate solution each time. The upright profile is provided with a central stiffening rib. The beam brackets are provided at the front with lugs which fit into the upright holes and, via their U-shaped profile which envelops the upright, fitting into the central rib, guarantee perfect hooking. In addition to the normal beams for pallet racking applications, specific profiles can be used for supporting shelves and plates. Lastly, the wide range of accessories available permits customisation of the racking to suit many different needs. Armes designs and produces racking for installation in seismic areas, or for use in cold rooms, or for outdoor applications, in addition to self-supporting warehouses, automatic storage systems and all other types of storage systems.

CALCULATION
The load capacities of the various parts of the structure take into account the weight of the structure itself and the effective load and are based on the hypothesis of a uniformly distributed load (u.d.l.). Calculation of the load capacity of the frames takes account of the relative working conditions, considering the number, position and height of the load levels, the presence or absence of vertical bracing and the ground anchorage characteristics. These capacities are calculated with the aid of an automatic code developed expressly for the evaluation of pallet racking. The relevant S.I.C.S. software ("Sistema Integrato Calcolo Scaffali" – integrated shelving calculation system) was developed by the industrial shelving section of A.C.A.I. (Associazione fra i Costruttori in Acciao Italiani - Italian Steel Constructors Association). Deflections of the beams are within 1/200 of the span.

The tests carried out and the entire set of algorithms used for the procedure comply with the most authoritative framework of standards and recommendations applicable in Italy and on a European level, including:
• A.C.A.I. CISI Technical Norm for the heavy pallet racks type of 28/06/2002;
• UNI ENV 1993-1-1:1994 and UNI ENV 1993-1-3: 2000 (Eurocode 3 – Steel structures design);
• CNR-UNI 10011:1997 (Steel constructions: instructions for the calculation, the execution, the test and the maintenance);
• CNR 10022:1998 (Cold profiles: instructions for the use in the constructions);
• D.M. 09/01/1996 (Technical Norms for the calculation, the execution and the test of the normal, pre-compressed concrete structures and for the metal structures);
• F.E.M. (Fédération Européenne de la Manutention) recommendations 10-2-02.
Application of the automatic code was supported by a prior series of experimental tests performed at university laboratories and designed to assess the principle geometric and physical parameters.
