The M90 boltless shelving is particularly suitable for storing non-palletised items and for manual deposit and retrieval operations; it is therefore widely used for the storage of spare parts, to furnish sales outlets and to create archives and libraries. Its characteristic single-upright structure facilitates deposit and retrieval operations due to the absence of front uprights. M90 indicates that the distance between the uprights is approximately 90 cm, which corresponds to the length of the shelves. The uprights consist of a closed tubular profile, obtained by cold forming at the Armes factory using certified quality steel strip with limited tolerances; a central rib further enhances profile performance. Extra-tall systems can be built and systems with passageway levels. The uprights are completed by supporting bases and are interconnected by spacers. The uprights can be fitted with the shelves, available in different shapes, depths and capacities (bin or flat, wire mesh, slanting, clothes hangers, rim or tyre holders, gasket holders, etc.), and a huge number of other accessories (wire mesh and perforated panels, tool hooks, shelves for glass panes and tubes, shelves for sheet metal products, belt holders, sliding ladders) which make the M90 shelving one of the most complete and versatile systems available on the market.

CALCULATION
The load capacities of the various parts of the structure take into account the weight of the structure itself and the effective load and are based on the hypothesis of a uniformly distributed load (u.d.l.). Calculation of the load capacity of the uprights takes account of the relative working conditions, considering the number, position and height of the shelves, the presence or absence of vertical bracing and the ground anchorage characteristics. These capacities are calculated with the aid of an automatic code. Deflections of the shelves present in the M90 modular cantilever shelving are within 1/200 of the span.

The tests carried out and the entire set of algorithms used for the procedure comply with the most authoritative framework of standards and recommendations applicable in Italy and on a European level, including:
• UNI ENV 1993-1-1:1994 and UNI ENV 1993-1-3: 2000 (Eurocode 3 – Steel structures design);
• UNI 10988 – April 2002 “Commercial shops furniture - Racks – terms, safety requirements and test methods“;
• CNR-UNI 10011:1997 (Steel constructions: instructions for the calculation, the execution, the test and the maintenance);
• CNR 10022:1998 (Cold profiles: instructions for the use in the constructions);
• D.M. 09/01/1996 (Technical Norms for the calculation, the execution and the test of the normal, pre-compressed concrete structures and for the metal structures);
• Eurocode 3 – Part 1.3;
• F.E.M. (Fédération Européenne de la Manutention) recommendations.
Application of the automatic code was supported by a prior series of experimental tests designed to assess the principle geometric and physical parameters.
