ARMES PRESENTS ARMES LAB: THE BOOSTER FOR THE NEW LOGISTICS OF SMEs
When a company’s payoff is not just a slogan but a statement of intent, every word matters. For Armes—one of the key players in the industrial storage sector for 70 years—“Steel racking, Italian excellence” is not a random phrase: it is the essence of what they do and how they do it.
Over the years, Armes has built a tradition based on 100% Made in Italy production, carefully selected materials, controlled in-house processes, and a continuous commitment to research and development. Every racking system and warehouse solution is designed to last over time, ensuring safety, efficiency, and flexibility.
The new milestone: Armes Lab – Logistic Automation Booster
Armes looks to the future with ambition: a new Business Unit is born—Armes Lab – Logistics Automation Booster.
A project designed to bring Italian SMEs closer to semi-automated logistics, offering solutions that were once considered out of reach for those who believed automation was a luxury reserved only for large-scale operations.
Armes Lab does not just offer racking solutions—it aims to “democratize” modern technology, making efficient, flexible, and reliable processes accessible—processes that only semi-automated systems can guarantee.
The stated goal is to transform the logistics of Italian SMEs—and, in the future, international businesses—through accessible yet high-performance systems capable of improving daily operations, increasing speed and productivity, reducing errors, and making working conditions easier for warehouse operators.
The paradigm is clear: automation not as an end, but as a tool serving practicality and efficiency.
Product lines for every need
Armes Lab, as an “accelerator,” enters the market with an extremely compelling offering, capable of providing accessible and diversified solutions tailored to different types of customers and their specific needs. While awaiting the full range to be unveiled in the early days of 2026, it is already introducing its first innovations:
AWMLOG: THE NEW WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
It is the WMS that transforms logistics complexity into a growth driver. It is easy to use and provides full control over every operational phase of the warehouse, from receiving to shipping.
The main feature and distinctive element of AWMLOG is that it is a pre-configured system available in three versions—Light, Plus, and Advanced—based on the experience Armes has gained over more than 70 years in designing and manufacturing storage solutions for any space and industry.
SMART RACKING
It is the range dedicated to “intelligent” and semi-automated warehouse management, handled by the AWMLOG WMS/WCS.
Today, as a starting point, it is introduced with two product types:
- 2D STORE: It is a multi-depth racking system that handles pallets and heavy loads using autonomous shuttles, ensuring maximum efficiency in managing repetitive filling and emptying operations across three temperature ranges.
It is an extremely scalable semi-automated solution that, depending on workload peaks or increases, can be expanded simply by adding one or more shuttles to the racking or AMR/AGV vehicles—without interrupting system operations.
- COMPACT STORE: It is a mobile base racking system that handles pallets and heavy loads and represents the most suitable solution for warehouses dedicated to high-density storage of materials with medium to low turnover, across three temperature ranges.
Thanks to the racks moving on rails, it optimizes space by up to 80%. Warehouse operations can be carried out by operators or in a semi-automated mode through the integration of AMR/AGV vehicles.
SOLUTIONS FOR CASE HANDLING AND DISTRIBUTION LOGISTICS
When order fulfillment speed and order complexity increase, Armes Lab responds with efficient, easily configurable, and accessible solutions—ideal for all SMEs looking to take a step forward, accelerating operations management without disrupting their existing infrastructure.
One of the most effective methods for optimizing the order preparation process is the use of the semi-automated Pick-by-Light picking system. This integrated Armes Lab solution consists of practical gravity flow racks equipped with Pick-by-Light devices which, based on the picking location, guide the operator through the order preparation activity.
Among the sectors where Armes has always been a benchmark are apparel and textiles; Armes Lab will continue to develop this strategic market by offering solutions for the transport and handling of hanging and folded garments.
Una new development for Armes Lab, a guarantee for the market
At the helm of Armes Lab, Armes’ new Business Unit, is Massimo Cecchinato, a manager who brings with him extensive international experience in the field of automation. With over 15 years in managerial roles at multinational companies such as Swisslog and Savoye, Cecchinato has chosen to take on this new challenge, bringing all his professional expertise and enthusiasm to a 100% Made in Italy company with three production facilities and a strong commitment to excellence.
Here is his comment:
“I am proud to take the lead of Armes Lab, certainly a challenging and innovative project. We want to bring modern logistics—previously available only to large enterprises—into small and medium-sized industries, finally making semi-automated, reliable, and tailor-made solutions accessible. I firmly believe that excellence should not be a privilege, but a standard. That is why our payoff is ‘Logistics Automation Booster.’ We are determined to demonstrate that SMEs can access improved logistics processes through our consulting and our products, always focusing on quality, heart, and Italian identity”.
With these words, Cecchinato marks the beginning of a new era for Armes—no longer just a racking manufacturer with nearly 70 years of history, but, with the launch of Armes Lab, a true accelerator of logistics innovation.
“In recent years, logistics—and with it warehouse management—has undergone a radical transformation. Companies’ requirements have become more complex: higher turnover rates, mixed flows, demand peaks, omnichannel management; all of this requires flexibility, speed, and adaptability. With Massimo Cecchinato leading Armes Lab, we will offer the market—from warehouse management software to physical storage systems, up to the semi-automation of processes—a concrete opportunity, especially for SMEs that until now have considered automation beyond their reach.”
Otello Dalla Rosa, CEO of Armes, comments.
A growing outlook
The stated goal of Armes Lab is, initially, to serve Italian SMEs and the main system integrators, while also aiming to look beyond national borders in the near future.
“Armes Lab positions itself as a bridge between the traditional and the modern: on one side, the well-established expertise in custom racking; on the other, the most advanced technologies to make logistics automation smarter, more efficient, and more accessible—all aimed at bringing tailored technology, flexibility, and automation to contexts that until recently were excluded from these possibilities. This is our project!
For a group with Armes’ history, production capacity, and solidity—over 40,000 m² of facilities, large-scale production, and certified know-how—Armes Lab represents a natural evolution. Today we present the new Business Unit and the first product lines, but in the early days of 2026 I will be pleased to introduce further innovations, including our solutions for distribution logistics and our innovative vertical storage systems. The Armes Lab team is full of energy and ready for the new year—its very first year!”
Massimo Cecchinato, Business Unit Director of Armes Lab, concludes.
